Combi Coffee Roasters
Kicking off this list of the best specialty coffee in Porto is Combi Coffee Roasters.
Combi roasts their own beans in-house and partners with ethical cooperatives and farmers worldwide, ensuring their coffee is both delicious and responsibly sourced.
This Porto coffee shop has two locations – one outside the city center where the roastery is located, and the one I visited in Bonfim.
Bonfim is a trendy, less-touristy neighbourhood and the perfect spot for a relaxed afternoon coffee.
If you’re into different brew methods, you’ll be in your element at Combi Coffee Roasters. They offer Aeropress, French Press, V60, and batch brew.
👉 Combi has fast wifi and is great for digital nomads – but only on weekdays!
Dona Mira
Also located in Bonfim, Dona Mira is another one of the best coffee shops in Porto.
Dona Mira feels like a friend’s cool apartment, and the entire place has a trendy, artsy vibe.
I was absolutely blown away by the flat white I had at Dona Mira, and think it could be one of the best from the whole trip.
There is loads of seating, with a beautiful garden terrace covered in plants. Inside, you’ll find many board games, making this the perfect spot for a slow afternoon with friends.
The atmosphere is super cozy, and this coffee shop has a distinctly local vibe – great if you’re looking to escape the hustle and bustle of the city center.
👉 This is another great spot for digital nomads, but not past 6 pm
Cafe Garcia & Marquez
Cafe Garcia & Marquez is hands down my favourite coffee shop in Porto, and the best coffee I’ve had for a long time.
All beans are single-origin and imported from Colombia, and you can taste the flavor and smoothness with every sip.
I’ve visited Colombia twice, so maybe I’m biased, but it simply doesn’t get better than Colombian coffee.
They have two locations, but I visited the one near Clerigos Tower, which has indoor and outdoor seating – perfect for people watching!
The coffees are beautifully presented on a wooden tray, and the space is bright and airy.
They also host free coffee tastings on Fridays & Saturdays, giving you the chance to sample a variety of brews.
Fabrica Coffee Roasters
Fabrica is one of the most well-known coffee roasters in Portugal – and for good reason!
There are two coffee shops in Porto, but you may recognise them from Lisbon too.
They take pride in having the highest-quality beans roasted in-house and are involved in every step of the coffee production process.
Fabrica also offers various brewing methods, including V60, French Press, and Aeropress.
The coffee shop itself is huge and has a minimalist and industrial feel. Think bare-brick walls, wooden benches, and trendy artwork.
I had a flat white and the best pastel de nata I ate on the entire trip (!!!!).
👉 Due to this Porto coffee shop’s size, I thought it would be great for digital nomads. Unfortunately, they have no wifi.
Esquires Coffee
The final spot on this list of specialty coffee shops in Porto is Esquires Coffee.
Esquires Coffee is actually included on my list of the Best Brunch & Breakfast Spots in Porto, but their coffee is so amazing that it’s worth including here too.

Here are some that deserve an honorable mention-
- 7G Roaster – across the river in Gaia
- SO Coffee Roasters – many brewing methods
- My Coffee – the best views of Porto, but it was too busy every time I tried
- C’alma – two locations, one pop-up in Bolhao market
- Oporto dos Gatos – not specialty coffee but a must-visit for cat & coffee lovers

Where to stay in Porto
Porto is a really walkable city, so generally, wherever you choose to stay, you will be able to reach the main tourist attractions.
👉 Porto has a €3 tourist tax per night – this is paid in cash when you arrive
There are 3 main areas worth considering –
- Baixa – the city center, the place to be for landmarks, restaurants & nightlife
- Ribeira – best for charm & river views
- Vila Nova de Gaia – across the river, much quieter & amazing views of Porto
Wine Hostel (my top pick)
This charming, wine-themed hostel is the perfect blend of social and chill – I stayed here for one week.
Centrally located, you’re steps from all the best bars, restaurants, and landmarks. It’s ideal for solo travellers, digital nomads, or anyone looking to soak up Porto without breaking the bank.
The drinks from the bar are super affordable, and there is a very well-equipped kitchen (with free tea & coffee each morning).
The hostel is impeccably clean, and the friendly hostel staff create a real home-away-from-home vibe.
Prices start from €25 per night.
The Social Hub
This is the best place to stay in Porto if you’re looking for a taste of luxury, without the hefty price tag.
A stylish hybrid between a hotel and a co-working space, The Social Hub is centrally located and is perfect for couples or digital nomads.
With a rooftop pool, fitness center, and sun terrace, as well as a top-notch restaurant and coffee shop, this hotel has everything you need to relax after a busy day exploring.
Room prices start from €175 per night.

Majestic Café in Porto is famous for its stunning Belle Époque architecture, rich cultural history, and literary connection to J.K. Rowling.

How much is a coffee in Porto?
For a non-specialty coffee in a local cafe, you can expect to pay €1-2, depending on how touristy the area is.
I always ordered a Galao, which is similar to a Latte. I noticed that the prices were cheaper if you ordered in the Portuguese names, instead of “latte” or “flat white”.
