Setting up your Ubigi eSIM is very straightforward, and I’m going to walk you through it step-by-step.

I’d suggest setting up your eSIM at home before you travel, and it will automatically activate as soon as you land.

Step 1: Check your phone’s compatibility

The most important first step. Make sure your phone supports eSIM (most recent iPhone, Samsung, and Google Pixel models do).

If you’re unsure, dial *#06# – if an EID code shows, your device supports eSIM. This is how it will look ⬇️

Step 2: Download the Ubigi app

Either way, you’ll need to download the app to manage your data plan later on, so I’d recommend doing everything on the app for ease.

There are two ways to install your Ubigi eSIM, depending on how you purchased it.

If you purchased on the website, you will receive a QR code in your email after purchase. Hold down the QR code in the email until you see “Add eSIM”.

You can also head directly to the Ubigi app and select “Scan a Ubigi QR Code” and then use the camera to scan directly from the email (this only really works if you have a desktop).

If you purchased on the app, simply click on “Install Your eSIM” and follow the step-by-step instructions.

Be sure to choose a label for your eSIM to help you identify it. Your home number will show as “Primary”, and as you can see, I’ve changed my eSIM name to “Ubigi”.

After installing, your phone will prompt you to activate your eSIM – I’d recommend doing this before travel.

To make sure it’s turned on, head to “Mobile Service” in your phone’s settings and find your Ubigi eSIM.

Slide the toggle to “Turn on this line” and your eSIM will be ready to connect once you arrive at your destination.

Also, make sure “Data Roaming” is switched on for the Ubigi eSIM – this will allow you to seamlessly switch to this network when it becomes available.

Also, make sure “Allow Mobile Data Switching” is turned off. This will ensure it does not switch back to your primary number when you’re abroad, resulting in hefty roaming fees.

Step 6: Start using your data

Keep your primary line switched on until you land in your new destination, before turning it off and leaving just the Ubigi line connected.

If you’re searching for the best eSIM for Jordan, coverage varies massively depending on where you travel.

Before travelling, I knew I’d be spending time outside the main cities, from desert camps in Wadi Rum to rural villages in Dana, so I wanted a Jordan eSIM that offered reliable coverage throughout.

• The hotel owner confirmed that a lack of signal is completely normal, regardless of which network you use

Petra / Wadi Musa – Very Good ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Petra and the surrounding town (Wadi Musa) are where coverage surprised me the most – I was seriously impressed.

• Wadi Musa had perfect LTE/4G signal
• Patchy within the deep canyons of the main trail (not the fault of the eSIM)
• Surprisingly reliable on the backdoor hike to the Monastery (maps, podcasts & messages worked)

Wadi Rum – Weak ⭐⭐

One important thing to note is that no eSIM will give you coverage where there are no nearby cell towers. That’s a network infrastructure limitation, and says nothing about the eSIM.

Wadi Rum is completely remote and isolated, but that’s the beauty of it! Instead of worrying about phone signal, make the most of the time to disconnect.

• No signal deep in the desert – embrace it!

Aqaba – Strong ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
