Noshi Cafe | Vegan Brunch Porto

Noshi Cafe was my favourite spot for breakfast in Porto – I went 3 times during my week’s stay.

With its focus on healthy living, delicious specialty coffee, and minimalist interiors, Noshi feels like a peaceful retreat right in the heart of the city.

Noshi Cafe is perfect for breakfast or brunch in Porto and specializes in creative plant-based goodness – ideal for vegans or vegetarians.

Think avo’ on toast, fluffy pancakes, flaky pastries, and refreshing acai bowls.

The interior courtyard is a real highlight, decorated with lush hanging plants and a small fountain that adds to the tranquil vibe.

Honestly, it’s one of the most Instagrammable cafés I’ve ever been to.

There’s also outdoor seating with a direct view of the stunning Igreja do Carmo, making it an ideal spot to sip your coffee, people-watch, and plan your exciting day in Porto.

Noshi has great Wi-Fi and a calm atmosphere, which makes it popular with digital nomads—I even managed to get a few hours of work done here myself.

Zenith | Famous Porto Brunch

With locations in several cities across Europe, Zenith has gained a reputation as the ultimate brunch spot.

Zenith serves brunch all day, every day. Their vibrant menu strikes a perfect balance between hearty comfort food and healthy, creative dishes.

The space is trendy yet welcoming, with a chic industrial feel: exposed brick walls, high ceilings, and a buzzing atmosphere that makes it a favourite for locals and tourists alike.

At Zenith, you’ll find all the classic brunch options but also some more unique offerings, such as Shakshuka or Brazilian tapiocas.

Zenith’s drinks menu is just as impressive, featuring colourful smoothies, quality artisan coffee, and a solid range of brunch-ready cocktails, from mimosas to espresso martinis.

If you’re lucky enough to grab an outdoor seat like we did, Zenith overlooks a lively square that comes to life with a market every Saturday.

Just a heads-up: Zenith is one of the busiest Porto brunch spots in town, so while the atmosphere is lively, service can be a little slower during peak hours.

This also means that although it has wifi, I would not recommend it for digital nomads. Due to its popularity, it is more geared towards social brunches than long work sessions.

Whether you’re after a laid-back brunch with friends or a simple caffeine fix, you cannot miss Zenith for a delicious Porto breakfast.

Eleven Lab | Best Breakfast in Porto

Eleven Lab serves one of the best breakfasts I’ve ever had – there, I said it!

Tucked away on the second floor of a clothing shop, this café has an unassuming entrance that makes finding it feel like discovering a hidden gem.

However, once you venture upstairs, you’re welcomed by a stylish, modern space with cosy indoor seating and a laid-back outdoor terrace – perfect for slow mornings or sunny brunches.

You can expect all the brunch favorites – pancakes, smoothie bowls, and perfectly cooked eggs – but what really sets Eleven Lab apart are their signature “Insta combos”.

Their “Insta combos” are served on beautifully curated boards, bursting with colour and creativity – so photogenic that I almost felt bad for devouring it.

If you’re indecisive like me, I’d recommend the “English Lab Full Day” which includes a mixture of sweet and savory and is absolutely delicious.

The drinks are impressive, too. Whether you’re after a fresh juice, a creamy latte, or a beautifully crafted cocktail, the menu has something to match the mood — day or night.

Nata Lisboa | Cheap Breakfast Porto

If you’re after a traditional and affordable Porto breakfast, look no further than Nata Lisboa.

Centrally located just steps from São Bento Station and some of Porto’s main highlights, it’s a super convenient spot to fuel up before a busy day of sightseeing.

The vibe is simple with no frills — this certainly isn’t a fancy or aesthetic brunch spot like the others on this list.

However, it does serve up the essentials as affordable combo meals: a pastry, coffee, and juice or toast for a few euros.

It’s a great option if you’re travelling on a budget and want something light and affordable to start your day.

As the name implies, the pastel de nata is certainly the star of the show – fresh, flaky, and perfectly caramelised on top

A quick heads-up: although the staff told me it was table service, I’d recommend heading straight to the till to order, then grabbing a seat.

It’s a busy spot with long wait times, so I’d insist on ordering at the till to save yourself a bit of time.

If you’re looking for no-fuss food and a caffeine fix without breaking the bank, Nata Lisboa ticks all the right boxes.

Esquires Coffee

If you’re looking for a great coffee and a vibrant brunch in Porto, Esquires Coffee is a delicious and ethical choice.

With locations all around the world, the Porto branch is located in the heart of the city, right next to the beautiful Igreja de Santo Ildefonso.

Esquires is known for its commitment to organic, fair trade coffee and sustainable practices.

All of their coffee is grown using traditional methods and is 100% free from chemicals, meaning your caffeine fix doesn’t come at the planet’s expense.

Their ethics extend to more than just coffee, too. Ingredients for food are fresh, vibrant, and locally sourced where possible, with many wholesome breakfast & brunch options.

I had a smoothie bowl and a flat white, and they were delicious.

The cafe itself is a relaxed space with beautiful decor and a choice of indoor or outdoor seating.

They also have great wifi and many plug sockets, making it a perfect spot for digital nomads or anyone looking to work remotely.

If you’re looking for a calm space with amazing specialty coffee and the values to match, then Esquires is one of the best Porto brunches.

Wilson

Wilson is another one of the best cafes in Porto, bringing a taste of the US to the cobblestone streets of Portugal.

I was intending to visit Negra Cafe Baixa based on a recommendation. However, when I arrived, they had a power cut and instead directed me to Wilson – just two minutes away and run by the same people.

Wilson leans into American pop culture with a nostalgic vibe and an indulgent, American-inspired menu to match.

From the decor to the dishes, Wilson has a playful atmosphere and feels very different from the other minimalist, aesthetic brunch cafes on this list.

The menu is full of brunch favorites and comfort food classics – think stacked pancakes, loaded toasts, and creamy eggs.

However, the sweet menu is undoubtedly the highlight. Their dessert menu is incredible, and they offer a wide range of creative coffees and loaded milkshakes.

I had the Nutella latte and it was absolutely delicious!

There is a choice of indoor or outdoor seating in a beautiful courtyard decorated with hanging plants. With reliable wifi and plenty of seating, it’s also a great Porto cafe for digital nomads.

If you’re craving something comforting, quirky, and undeniably satisfying, Wilson is a must-visit spot for breakfast in Porto.

Majestic Cafe

Any list of the best cafes in Porto would be incomplete without Majestic Cafe – I’m sure you’ve stumbled across it when researching the best things to do in Porto.

Stepping into Majestic Cafe is like stepping back in time. It’s easy to imagine the Porto of the 1920s, when this café served as a hub for artists, intellectuals, and politicians.

Located on Rua de Santa Catarina, one of Porto’s most iconic pedestrian streets, Majestic Café is as famous for its Art Nouveau architecture and Belle Époque elegance.

With ornate mirrors, carved wood interiors, sparkling chandeliers, and even a grand piano, Majestic Cafe feels more like a real-life museum than a coffee shop.

But while its beauty and history are undeniable, the experience can feel… well, a little underwhelming. It’s certainly more of a tourist attraction than a true cafe experience.

You can expect large queues to get in (I waited about 20 minutes at 10 am), and the one-in-one-out policy keeps the atmosphere a little rigid.

There was very little ambiance, and the prices are crazy expensive – I paid €7 for a simple coffee (the cheapest option).

If you’re hoping for the full dining experience, I would recommend the brunch menu (€45) or afternoon tea (€35) as these have the best value.

So, is Majestic Cafe worth visiting?

If you’re a fan of architecture, history, or simply want to tick off one of Porto’s most iconic landmarks, it’s worth stopping by.

But if you’re hoping for good-quality specialty coffee or a hearty brunch, I would suggest another spot for breakfast or brunch in Porto.

Other popular spots for brunch in Porto

There are so many amazing cafes in Porto, and much to my horror, I did not get a chance to visit them all (which is certainly an excuse to go back).

Here are a few that deserve an honorable mention, but I did not get a chance to visit myself –

• Garden Cafe – lush interior & super affordable brunch plates, but there was a long queue every time I tried
• Negra Cafe – recommended by a few people, but they had a power cut when I visited
• Do Norte by Hungry Biker – healthy & hearty brunches and an eco-conscious brunch spot
• Epoca – a minimalist cafe known for organic local ingredients

Where to stay in Porto

Porto is a really walkable city, so generally, wherever you choose to stay, you will be able to reach the main tourist attractions.

There are 3 main areas worth considering –

• Baixa – the city center, the place to be for landmarks, restaurants & nightlife
• Ribeira – best for charm & river views
• Vila Nova de Gaia – across the river, much quieter & amazing views of Porto

Wine Hostel (my top pick)

This charming, wine-themed hostel is the perfect blend of social and chill – I stayed here for one week.

Centrally located, you’re steps from all the best bars, restaurants, and landmarks. It’s ideal for solo travellers, digital nomads, or anyone looking to soak up Porto without breaking the bank.

The drinks from the bar are super affordable, and there is a very well-equipped kitchen (with free tea & coffee each morning).

The hostel is impeccably clean, and the friendly hostel staff create a real home-away-from-home vibe.

Prices start from €25 per night.

The Social Hub

This is the best place to stay in Porto if you’re looking for a taste of luxury, without the hefty price tag.

A stylish hybrid between a hotel and a co-working space, The Social Hub is centrally located and is perfect for couples or digital nomads.

With a rooftop pool, fitness center, and sun terrace, as well as a top-notch restaurant and coffee shop, this hotel has everything you need to relax after a busy day exploring.

A typical breakfast in Porto is light and simple.

Think pastry and coffee combos, bread with butter and jam, or toasted sandwiches.

However, while a traditional breakfast is light and affordable, Portugal has lent into the international brunch scene, offering a delicious mix of both.

Is it expensive to eat out in Porto?

Generally, I found eating out in Porto very affordable, especially compared to Lisbon and other European cities.

Of course, if you’re in the main touristy areas or an international-style cafe, you can expect the prices to be higher.

However, there are many family-run local restaurants where you can get a lunchtime Menu do Dia (includes a soup, main & drink) for under €12.

In the evenings, check out tascas – these local restaurants offer great value for money.

Is Porto a cheap city?

Porto is a very affordable city break, especially compared to other cities in Western Europe.

Many of the attractions – churches, parks, museums – are free or very low cost (check out the best free activities here). This is something I noticed as a stark difference from Lisbon.

The price of hostels or hotels is relatively in line with the rest of Europe, but I found restaurants/cafes cheaper.

It’s often considered one of the most beautiful cafés in the world and is a significant cultural landmark in Porto.

Is 3 days too long in Porto?

3 days is not too long in Porto and is a great amount of time to explore the city’s highlights without rushing!

I spent over a week in Porto (because I fell in love), but you can experience the best of the city in a few days.

The city is compact and walkable, but it’s packed with character, viewpoints, and experiences that really shine when you slow down a bit.
