Siquijor Island is becoming an increasingly popular destination on any Philippines itinerary.
Untamed natural beauty, pristine beaches, and abundant marine life, Siquijor is an adventurer’s playground just waiting to be explored.
Hidden waterfalls and caves add to the mystical atmosphere of this island and some are so tucked away that many tourists don’t even know they’re there.
Kawasan Falls Siquijor is perfect for those looking to escape the crowds and get totally immersed in nature.
This guide will tell you everything you need to know, including how to get there and what to expect from this hidden treasure.
Where are Kawasan Falls Siquijor?
Kawasan Falls and Cave are located in Lazi, Siquijor.
About a 40-minute drive from the main tourist hub of San Juan, Lazi is where you will find most of the best waterfalls in Siquijor.
As most of the waterfalls are concentrated in this small area, I would recommend a day waterfall hopping between them to make the most of the journey.
All within a 5-minute drive are Locong Falls, Cambugahay Falls, and Lagaan Falls.
How to get there
Heading south out of San Juan, you take the Siquijor Circumferential Road for about 30 minutes.
Once you reach the town of Lazi, take a left inland and follow the Google Map instructions to reach Kawasan Falls and Cave.
You should then see a wooden sign on the side of the road letting you know you have arrived. Follow the sign off-road and keep driving until you reach the parking area.
Motorbike parking was 20 PHP ($0.35).

How to get around Siquijor
The best way of getting around Siquijor is with a scooter.
There are not many cars in Siquijor and the roads are very well maintained, so a scooter is the main mode of transport for everyone.
Despite the natural attractions being somewhat scattered, you can access them all by following the Siquijor Circumferential Road around the island.
We hired our bike for 350 PHP ($6) from Stella’z Guesthouse for 5 days.
If you’re not keen on hiring a scooter, you can speak to the tricycle drivers and negotiate with them a price for the day. This way they can take you on a mini tour of the main tourist spots in Siquijor.
Visit the main Siquijor highlights including Salagdoong Beach, Cambugahay Falls, the Old Balete Tree, and Paliton Beach.
This full-day tour includes roundtrip transportation from Dumaguete, entrance fees, a private guide, and lunch.
Kawasan Falls: What to expect
When you arrive at Kawasan Falls Siquijor, you will be assigned a mandatory guide. This is due to the steepness of the trail going down.
Our guide was super helpful and showed us some hidden water holes behind the main fall. He also took lots of great photos of us and looked after our belongings.
Kawasan Falls entrance fee
There is no entrance fee to enter Kawasan Falls and Cave. However, you are expected to leave a donation or tip for the guide.
For reference, we left 170 PHP ($3) but the amount is up to you. You also pay the 20 PHP parking on top of this.

Kawasan Falls & Cave
To reach the falls, you will walk about 10 minutes down a fairly steep hill with your guide. Don’t worry, there are bamboo handrails to help you down.
The short walk down is so worth it as the falls are totally secluded and completely immersed in nature.
These falls are lesser-known than other more popular spots on the island, so you do not need to worry about hoards of tourists upsetting the serenity.
Apart from our guide, we were the only people here, which made the experience so much more special.
Kawasan Falls are actually my favourite falls in Siquijor. There is a Tarzan-esque rope swing to have some fun jumping and flipping into the cool water.
You can also use the waterfall as a slide into the water, as the surface is pretty smooth.
You have to swim under the waterfall itself to access the small cave hidden behind which boasts some pretty unique rock formations and is such a cool experience.
The guide also walked us a further 2 minutes to show us some more crystal-clear water holes within the shrubs and gave us some time to explore.

How long do you need at Kawasan Falls Siquijor?
You can spend as much time as you want at Kawasan Falls and Cave. However, we spent about 1 hour exploring the cave, jumping into the water, and having a paddle.

How to get to Siquijor
There is no airport on Siquijor Island, so you will have to take a ferry for the last leg of the journey wherever you’re coming from.
If you choose to fly, I would suggest flying to either Dumaguete, Bohol, or Cebu. From these destinations, you can then take a ferry across.

Compared to other more touristy destinations in the Philippines, Siquijor is home to beautiful untamed nature but does not attract loads of tourists.
Therefore, be sure to leave yourself enough time to appreciate this natural beauty and the serenity of the surroundings without rushing to tick things off.
We stayed for 5 nights which was the perfect amount of time for the main Siquijor tourist spots, hidden gems, and relaxation.
As with most destinations in the Philippines, the WiFi in Siquijor can be a little patchy and unreliable. For a stress-free trip, I would suggest getting a data plan with an Airalo eSIM.
