From pristine waterfalls, white sand beaches, and abundant marine life, to healing rituals, enchanted trees, and untamed natural beauty.
It is no surprise that Siquijor is rapidly becoming a popular destination in the Philippines.
Whilst Siquijor is home to some pretty striking and Instagram-worthy falls, exploring the rawness and tranquility of the lesser-known falls is one of the best things to do in Siquijor.
Lugnason Falls, also known as Zodiac Falls, is a must-visit Siquijor tourist spot.
Its beauty, reasonable price, and convenient location mean there is no excuse not to add it to your Siquijor itinerary.
This post will let you know exactly how to get there, the entrance fee, and what to expect from Lugnason Falls Siquijor.
How to get there
Lugnason Falls is located just 10 minutes from the tourist hub of San Juan. They are therefore the easiest Siquijor falls to reach.
I can confirm that the Google Maps location is correct and you can reach this Siquijor waterfall by following the directions below.
If you’re coming from San Juan, you will take the Siquijor Circumferential Road heading eastward across the island. You will take a left just before you reach Tubod Beach and Coco Grove.
Follow this road up until you reach Lugnason Falls Siquijor. A small sign lets you know you are in the correct place and there will be some locals hanging around to point you in the right direction.
Once you have left your bike parked up, there is a short 5-minute walk down a marked trail to reach the waterfall. A guide is not really necessary.
How to get around Siquijor
The best way of getting around Siquijor is with a scooter, which is the main mode of transport for everyone.
We hired our bike for 350 PHP ($6) a day from Stella’z Guesthouse for 5 days.
If you are not so confident with a bike, you can reach Lugnason Falls with a tricycle. You will find many drivers located on the main road in San Juan.
Be sure to negotiate a fair price for the return journey. This should cost no more than 400 PHP ($7) there and back.
Philippines Essentials Packing List
Lugnason Falls entrance fee
The entrance fee to Lugnason Falls is FREE. This makes it one of the cheapest Siquijor tourist spots to visit.
Whilst we were not asked to pay a parking fee, I have heard that this can be 10 PHP ($0.20).
What to expect
After a 5-minute walk down through the jungle, you will start to hear the relaxing sounds of the cascading water.
Whilst the trail down is slightly steep, it is clearly marked and you should be fine in sandals or flip-flops.
These falls are hidden in the lush greenery of the jungle and have a certain untamed beauty about them.
Surprisingly, Lugnason Falls does not attract as many tourists as other popular waterfalls in Siquijor.
The blue-tinged water cascades about 5 meters down a unique rock, before plunging into a deep swimming hole.
This man-made swimming hole is about 6 meters deep and has handy concrete steps to lead you into the water. The larger swimming hole then spills into a smaller pool heading downstream.
The shape and size of the rock are striking, and when combined with the vibrancy of the surrounding jungle, Lugnason Falls is a real sight to behold.

Things to do
- Cooling dip in the swimming hole
- Jumping from the rock into the water
- Exploring the man-made pools downstream
The surrounding foliage and clean water make this the perfect spot to enjoy a refreshing dip and swim after a busy day exploring the main Siquijor highlights.
If you’re looking for a bit of adrenaline-filled fun, you can also scale the large rock and plunge yourself into the water.
Note: the swimming hole is about 6 meters deep but be sure to judge the depth of the water yourself before jumping.
For those looking to explore the area further, you can follow the water downstream through the jungle. It will lead you to a series of man-made swimming holes and cold springs.
I had read online that there used to be a Tarzan-esque rope swing, but we did not see this when we visited in March 2023.
What is Lugnason Falls known for?
Lugnason Falls is known for being one of the most stunning falls in Siquijor, located in the deep jungle.
However, despite its beauty and convenient location, it does not attract as many tourists as other waterfalls on the island. This makes it more of a hidden gem in Siquijor.

Best time to visit Lugnason Falls Siquijor?
The best to visit Lugnason Falls in Siquijor coincides with the best time to visit The Philippines in general. This would be in the dry season from December to May.
It is worth noting that these are seasonal falls. The water feeds the nearby rice fields and farmland, so in the dry season the water can be diverted for this purpose, leaving the falls dry.
This is not common but it is worth keeping in mind to avoid disappointment. We visited in March and had no problems at all.
Like anywhere in the Philippines, I would recommend visiting early to avoid lots of tourists. We visited at 10 AM and had the whole waterfall to ourselves!
Visit the main Siquijor highlights including Salagdoong Beach, Cambugahay Falls, the Old Balete Tree, and Paliton Beach.
This full-day tour includes roundtrip transportation from Dumaguete, entrance fees, a private guide, and lunch.
What is the famous falls in Siquijor?

- Cambugahay Falls
- Kawasan Falls & Cave – my personal favourite
- Lagaan Falls
- Cangbangag Falls

I would recommend at least 3 days in Siquijor.

Compared to other more touristy destinations in the Philippines, Siquijor is home to beautiful untamed nature but does not attract loads of tourists.
Therefore, be sure to leave yourself enough time to appreciate this natural beauty and the serenity of the surroundings without rushing to tick things off.
We stayed for 5 nights which was the perfect amount of time for the main Siquijor tourist spots, hidden gems, and relaxation.
As with most destinations in the Philippines, the WiFi in Siquijor can be a little patchy and unreliable. For a stress-free trip, I would suggest getting a data plan with an Airalo eSIM.
