Siargao is widely known as the surfing capital of the Philippines and its laidback vibe attracts travelers from all over the world.
Doot Beach is the perfect tropical paradise to unwind after enjoying a busy day of activities or Siargao’s buzzing nightlife.
And the best part? It is only 10 minutes away from General Luna.
Doot Beach is a total hidden gem in Siargao and attracts hardly any tourists.
It is one of the most beautiful white-sand Siargao beaches and offers many unique activities for travelers who fancy something other than surfing.
This post will cover everything you need to know about Doot Beach Siargao, including how to get there, what to expect, and popular activities for a relaxing afternoon.
Where is Doot Beach?
Doot Beach is only a short 10-minute drive from General Luna but feels like a secluded slice of paradise.
For whatever reason this beach does not attract flocks of tourists, so it retains its peaceful vibe.
If you’re not into surfing, visiting Doot Beach is one of the best things to do in Siargao.
How to get to Doot Beach
Although Doot Beach is quite hidden, getting there is very straightforward.
First, take the main road out of General Luna as if heading towards Dapa. After about 5 minutes, instead of continuing on this road, take a left onto Malinao Road.
Follow this winding coconut-lined road all the way around until you reach the end. It’s a dead end and you should see bikes parked up.
The entrance to the beach is pretty unassuming and you have to make your way through some bushes to reach the beach.
When we arrived there was a sign that said ‘Secret Beach’ which threw us off a little.
A man advised us that we were in fact in the right place – Doot Beach is also known as Secret Beach to the locals.
Note: Doot Beach should not be confused with Secret Spot Beach, located a further 10 minutes away.
What to expect at Doot Beach
Doot Beach is a hidden gem in Siargao and remains pretty undiscovered, despite everything it has to offer.
The beach boasts soft white sand, countless coconut trees, and is even more beautiful than I expected it to be.
As Doot Beach is a bay that sticks out, when walking down you have a choice of beach on either side.
The left-hand side is quieter and offers a stunning backdrop of nearby Naked Island.
Continuing to walk down through the palm trees, the beach on the right-hand side offers beautiful views of the mangroves.
If you walk to the end, you will find the majority of people, a little stall for refreshments and information about activities.
There are plenty of palm trees for shade and you will find people having picnics and lounging around in hammocks.
As the beach is protected by a bay, it is definitely not a surfing beach. The water is tranquil so fine for a paddle but due to its shallowness, it can get very hot.
If you’re hoping for a cooling dip, I would recommend coming at high tide. You can check out the tide times here
If you’re staying in General Luna, then a sunset can be quite hard to come by. Doot Beach Siargao is a great local spot to enjoy a few beers as the sun goes down.
Note: be careful though, when I visited in March, at dusk there were lots of sand flies.
Activities at Doot Beach
Whilst lounging under coconut trees and sunbathing is great, for those of you who can’t keep still, Doot Beach also offers some pretty fun and unique activities.
Need a SIM? When traveling the WiFi can be a little patchy and unreliable. For a stress-free trip, I would recommend getting an Airalo eSIM in advance.
Mangrove Kayaking
Just like other parts of Siargao, Doot Beach Siargao is surrounded by an extraordinary mangrove forest.
For as little as 200 php/hr ($3.50), you can rent a clear-bottom kayak to explore the mangrove forest in all its glory.
You can go by yourself or speak to the locals and they will happily guide you.

Bioluminescent Plankton
If you’re planning to stay at the beach for sunset, then do not miss the chance to check out the bioluminescent plankton and fireflies once the sun goes down.
At 6:30 p.m., the locals will take you out on a boat so you can witness this natural phenomenon. This is one of the most unique things to do in Siargao.
SHORT ON TIME?
Explore the main Siargao highlights with one of these top-rated tours –
Siargao Land Tour – visit the Maasin River, Magpupungko Rock Pools, Sugba Lagoon, and Coconut Viewdeck ($30)
