I would highly recommend giving their pan-seared tuna a try, or perhaps the pulled pork tacos.

However, in my opinion, the handcrafted cocktails steal the show.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, they specialize in Mojitos, with a wide range of unique flavors. When I visited the staff even came around with complimentary shots of different cocktails to sample.

Beyond the drinks, the atmosphere is unbeatable – a cozy blend of rustic charm and jungle greenery.

The setting feels intimate and tucked away, making it ideal for a romantic dinner or a laid-back night with drinks.

Street Dog Sanctuary

And if that wasn’t enough, there is a heartwarming story behind Mojitos that makes dining there even more special.

The owners of Mojitos also run the Street Dog Sanctuary, a non-profit dedicated to rescuing stray animals in Palawan – they care for over 180 cats and dogs!

When visiting Mojitos, don’t be surprised if you see a few well-behaved furry residents lounging around – a reminder of the incredible work done behind the scenes.

Getting here certainly isn’t easy, but the spectacular views and tranquility make it worth the effort.

Note: there is a steep dirt track to reach Jungle Bar – only attempt this with a scooter if you are a confident & experienced driver

As a party hostel, I was left positively surprised by the restaurant and the delicious range of food on offer. Their main specialties are burgers, chicken-based dishes, and curries.

Note: the food is undoubtedly American-inspired and this is not the spot for Filipino food

There are also many tasty appetizers and platters designed for sharing. I would recommend the loaded fries or chicken tenders.

Cocorico is also a great spot for breakfast in Port Barton. As well as English, American, and Filipino breakfasts, there are also lighter options of shakshuka, avocado toast, or smoothie bowls.

The lively atmosphere also makes this one of the best Port Barton nightlife spots.

As well as amazing DJs and parties every night, there is also beer pong, games, and Jenga to enjoy after your meal.

Cocorico is pre-game heaven, with a wide range of alcoholic drinks, beers, and cocktails at very reasonable prices.

The vibe is lively and trendy, with beautiful artwork painted on the walls and a spacious setting – this makes it a great spot for socializing with friends, or while waiting for your bus.

Whilst the service can be a little slow, the food is tasty and great value for money.

Olive’s Crib Bar & Resto

Rounding off this list of the best Port Barton restaurants, Olive’s Crib Bar & Resto is a must-visit for authentic Filipino cuisine and freshly caught seafood.

As well as local Filipino dishes, Olive’s Crib also offers delicious pizzas, pasta, and burgers. The fries, pizzas, and pasta are all homemade.

However, the sizzling seafood dishes are the real star of the show. You must try the sizzling tuna if you visit.

I would suggest staying near the center, as most of the main Port Barton tourist spots and restaurants can be reached on foot.

This is the ultimate social hostel with amazing parties nearly every night. They have a delicious restaurant, as well as their very own boat party.

Aquarius (my top pick)

The best place to stay in Port Barton for couples or groups with a medium budget – this is where I stayed and I could not recommend it more.

All rooms are spacious and modern, with hot showers from solar power and good wifi. This hotel is located minutes from the beach and restaurants.

There is also a shared kitchen equipped with free water and coffee, as well as a terrace area to socialize. There are board games, a dart board, and free use of the kayak.

Prices start from $28.00 per night.

To reach Port Barton, first, you will have to fly to Puerto Princesa.

The most common way is to book a shared mini-van. These depart from Puerto Princesa Airport and pass through Puerto Princesa town, before heading to Port Barton.

Comparing them is difficult, as they offer something completely different to the traveler.

As a popular destination, El Nido is well-geared towards tourists.

You will find many world-class resorts, delicious restaurants, buzzing nightlife, as well as many tours and day trips exploring the nearby islands.

Port Barton on the other hand has only recently become a popular tourist destination, and the infrastructure is lacking in certain areas.

Whilst more restaurants and hotels pop up each year, Port Barton has not been designed for the tourist. It is a better place to visit if you are looking to understand Filipino daily life better.

The natural surroundings are certainly not as striking as those in El Nido.

However, getting to appreciate such stunning beaches, islands, and coral reefs totally absent of tourists, makes the overall experience much more special.

Is it worth going to Port Barton?

Port Barton is most definitely worth visiting.

Located halfway between Puerto Princesa and El Nido, Port Barton has not experienced the influx of tourism like its more popular neighbors.

This sleepy beach town therefore remains pretty undiscovered and untouched. It provides an authentic glimpse into a beautiful destination not yet overrun by tourism.

This is certainly not a destination for the luxury traveler and you can expect dirt tracks, spotty wifi, and cold showers.

However, if you are a traveler looking to get off the beaten path and out of the tourist playground, then you cannot miss this Palawan hidden gem on your Philippines itinerary.
