The tropical paradise Siargao is known for its breathtaking beaches, laidback surfer’s vibe, and increasingly its delicious restaurants and cuisine.
For those looking for where to eat in Siargao, this post will cover the 9 best restaurants the island has to offer, ranging from low to high-budget options, updated for 2024.

Unfortunately, I didn’t fall in love with the cuisine in the Philippines and was left feeling a little underwhelmed by the food compared to other countries in Asia.
Siargao Island was like a breath of fresh air and arguably the best food in the Philippines.
The mixture of local and foreign restaurants creates a harmonious blend of food and cultures and is any foodie’s idea of heaven.
Whether you are on a tight budget or have a bit more money to spend, restaurant hopping is one of the best things to do in Siargao. There is also plenty on offer for vegans and vegetarians.
The following restaurants are mainly for lunch or dinner, but if it’s breakfast you’re after, then you can check out my best breakfast spots in Siargao post here.
This post will detail the best restaurants in Siargao, updated for 2024.
Where are the best restaurants in Siargao?
All of the best restaurants in this post are located on Tourism Road in General Luna.
Whilst most are concentrated in the center, a couple on this list are nearer the Cloud 9 surfing area about a 15-minute walk away.
Restaurant hopping and travelling the world without leaving Siargao is one of the best things to do on the island.
Affordable restaurants in Siargao
Derecho
This is my absolute favourite Siargao restaurant, and possibly in the Philippines in general.
Not only is it super affordable, but absolutely delicious. There is such a variety of local foods to choose from and plenty of options for vegans and vegetarians.
Similar to the canteen/buffet-style restaurants seen around the Philippines, Derecho could be seen as a more ‘upmarket’ version.
You pick what you want and the food is charged per item, and they are always generous with the servings.
Before tucking in, you take a picture of your food and then you show this when you pay at the end.
Whether you’re on a tiny budget or have a bit more to spend, you only pay for what you eat!
The food is all super fresh and at dinner, you will see them cooking the meat on the BBQ throughout the night.
As a word of warning, when the food is gone, it’s gone. Everything is on a first come first serve basis, so I would recommend coming as they open.
Opening times: Open every day but closed on Fridays. 11 am for lunch, 5:30 pm for dinner.
Recommendations: Lumpia 10 PHP, BBQ Tuna 90 PHP (the best I’ve ever had), Chicken Schnitzel 60 PHP.
Average price: 200 – 350 PHP ($3-5). All of the food pictured cost me no more than 300 PHP.
Kurvada
Another one of the best restaurants in Siargao is Kurvada.
The idea and vibe is exactly the same as that of Derecho as they have the same management.
As Kurvada is the original, it always gets busy very quickly, so be sure to come when they open. Kurvada offers homemade affordable food that doesn’t compromise on quality or taste.
If you’re looking for fancy and frills, then perhaps this place isn’t for you. The picnic benches are shared and the place has a super laidback vibe.
A trip to Siargao would not be complete without a trip to Derecho or Kurvada! This is some of the best Siargao food on offer.
Opening times: Open every day except Sundays. Lunch is served from 10:30 am and dinner from 5:30 pm.
Recommendations: Nasi Goreng w/ egg 60 PHP, Gnocci 80 PHP, Veggie Curry 60 PHP
Average Price: 200-350 PHP ($3-5).
Barrel Beachfront Bar
If you’re looking for a delicious Siargao restaurant with an ocean view, then you cannot miss Barrel Beachfront Sportsbar.
One of the best beachfront restaurants in Siargao, Barrel offers a fantastic menu of both Filipino favourites and home comfort foods at such an affordable price.
They also have lots of vegan and vegetarian options. As well as showing the sports, there are also two pool tables and live music to keep you entertained.

Not just affordable food but drinks as well, Barrel is pre-drinking heaven and the perfect warm-up for Siargao’s vibrant nightlife scene.
Spirit + mixers are 100 PHP ($1.80) and a beer is only 80 PHP ($1.40).
Be sure not to miss Tuesday’s Trivia night! This pub quiz is great fun and with over 20 teams when I played, it’s a fantastic place to meet new people. This is one of the most unique things to do in Siargao.
For updates, you can check out their Instagram here @barrelsiargao.
Opening times: Every day 7 am – 11:30 pm
Recommendations: Jack Daniel’s Chargrilled Burger 240 PHP, Falafel Burger 240 PHP.
Average Price: 200 – 350 PHP ($3-5).
Stay in a rustic private bungalow in the heart of General Luna.
Embrace the tropical island vibes with hammocks, an outdoor bamboo shower, and an amazing surf school.
Medium-budget restaurants
CEV: Ceviche & Kinilaw Shack
Arguably the best seafood Siargao has to offer, Ceviche and Kinilaw Shack offers tasty seafood with a unique local twist.
Every dish packs a punch and there is such attention to flavour and detail, with beautiful presentation too!
The ingredients are varied and you can taste their freshness – the master buyer goes to the market at crazy hours to get the best pick of the fish and the ceviche is served with the fresh catch of the day.
The atmosphere is great and it is not too overcrowded due to its position directly between General Luna’s main area and Cloud 9. On top of everything, the service is exceptional!
If you are lucky and the Grilled Fish Belly or Grilled Panga (fish jaw) is available, be sure to snatch it up before they sell out! If you’re a seafood lover, then this is the best food in Siargao.
Opening times: Every day from 12 pm – 9 pm.
Recommendations: Pacifico Ceviche w/ catch of the day 320 PHP, Grilled Fish Belly 220 PHP
Average price: 300 – 600 PHP ($5-10).

This restaurant is a must-visit for burger enthusiasts looking for where to eat in Siargao.
Specialising in smashed burgers, you have a choice between wagyu beef, pork, or vegetarian. They also offer chicken or fish options. You can also choose how you would like the meat cooked.
The buns are soft and baked daily, the patties juicy and succulent and when combined together it truly is a masterpiece. The burgers come with a side of fries but they also have loaded fries options.
Try to grab a seat upstairs if you can, so you can watch the world go by whilst tucking in. These succulent burgers are some of the best Siargao food.

Recommendations: Big Marc Wagyu Burger 430 PHP.
Average Price: 300 – 500 PHP ($5-9).
Philippines Essentials Packing List
High-budget Siargao food
La Carinderia
One of the best Siargao restaurants, La Carinderia is a beautiful fusion of Filipino and Italian cuisine.
This is the place to be if you are craving homemade pasta and Filipino food with an Italian twist.
The owner is Filipino and her husband, the chef, is Italian – a match made in foodie heaven!
Like most places on the island, the restaurant is al fresco which creates a great ambiance.
Although service was a little slower than other places we visited, the staff were super attentive and friendly.
The vegans and vegetarians will also leave this place happy, as I have heard great things about the Eggplant Ravioli.
The portion sizes are not huge, so this just means you’ll have extra room for one of their amazing starters or desserts.
Opening times: Every day 8 am – 10:30 pm.
Recommendations: Mama’s Lasagna 480 PHP, Seafood Pasta 420 PHP.
Average Price: 400 – 700 PHP ($7-12)

Las Barricas
Without a doubt, the best tapas and tacos this island has to offer, be sure to check out Siargao’s secret Spanish haven.
This hidden gem is where to eat in Siargao for those craving authentic Spanish food and delicious wine.
The vibe of the restaurant is super fun, the staff are extremely welcoming and the Spanish music playing gives a great energy to the place.
We thoroughly enjoyed the Sangria as a warmup for our night (550 PHP for a jug). The icing on the cake for me was the Estrella Galicia; my favourite beer and impossible to find in Asia.
You have to try the Tacos de Carnitas or the Costillas de Cerdo (ribs) with a glass of red, or the Tacos de Pescado with a glass of white.
They also offer some more traditional dishes such as Fabada and Chorizo.
The menu is small but mighty and there is one dish for vegetarians. If you want to be transported to Spain without leaving General Luna, then you will love this place.
Opening times: Every day 4 – 10 pm.
Recommendations: Tacos de Carnitas 229 PHP, Costillas de Cerdo 399 PHP, Stuffed Piquillo Peppers 489 PHP.

Kermit
If you’re looking for the best pizza in Siargao, then Kermit is the restaurant for you. They specialise in authentic Italian pizza and pasta.
Kermit serves the highest quality and freshest ingredients, some imported from Italy and some sourced from the local market and organic farm.
Their pizza oven is even imported from Italy – it doesn’t get more authentic than that!
The pizza dough and bread are made fresh daily and you can build your own pizza with a varied choice of toppings. They also have lots of vegetarian options.
If it’s pasta you’re after then be sure to pop in for dinner, as it is not served at lunchtime.
They also have a great selection of wine and cocktails. Happy Hour is from 4-7 p.m. daily and all night on a Friday.
The dining is al fresco and the location is quiet just off the main road.
Due to the popularity of this Siargao restaurant, you can expect a wait to be seated if you haven’t booked and service can be a little on the slow side at times.
Visit the main Siargao highlights including the Maasin River, Sugba Lagoon, Magpupungko Rock Pools, and Coconut Viewdeck.
All entrance fees, a private guide, and roundtrip transport to your accommodation included.
Opening times: Every day 7 am – 10 pm. The pizza oven is open from 11 am – 2 pm and 4 pm – 10 pm.

Where to stay in Siargao
The best area to stay in Siargao is General Luna. This is where you will find all of the main restaurants, activities, and buzzing nightlife.
Jing’s Place Homestay
The best place to stay in Siargao for solo backpackers and travelers on a budget.
With a choice between a private room or a shared dorm, Jing’s is one of the best-value accommodations in Siargao.
With a large common area and a pool table, Jing’s has a great social atmosphere and is a great spot to meet other travelers.
Located in the heart of General Luna, the rustic native-style rooms give an authentic feel of island life. We also booked our fantastic surf lesson with Jing’s.
Shared dorm prices are $6.00 per night and private rooms start from $10.00 per night.
Mao Mao Surf Camp
A great place to stay in Siargao for couples or small groups.
This hostel offers a laidback surfing vibe and rustic private bungalows in the heart of General Luna at a medium-range budget.
Embrace the tropical island vibes and live in the jungle, with an outdoor bamboo shower, hammocks, and an amazing surf school.
Prices for a private room start at $50.00 per night.
Isla Cabana Resort
One of the best luxury resorts in Siargao.
This beachfront resort boasts a private beach, an infinity pool, a spa, a gym, and a pool table. There is also a beach bar and restaurant, as well as activities such as kayaking.
Choose between a hotel-like room, cabana, or villa. The most expensive premier option includes sunrise views over the ocean and a private pool.
Prices range from $150 – $400 per night.
Do restaurants in Siargao accept credit cards?
In my experience, none of the above-mentioned restaurants accept debit or credit cards. I contacted all of them and they confirmed this. Cash payments and Gcash only.
This is typical in Siargao. Although more places are beginning to accept credit cards, most places charge 5-10% extra for this.
Your best bet is to withdraw money from an ATM and have cash on you.
Personally, I always use cash anyway when travelling as this is (usually) what the locals prefer. There are many ways to save money when using ATMs abroad.
Travel around Siargao like a local and get your bike from a trusted merchant.
Reliable service, a choice of well-maintained bikes, and optional delivery to your accommodation.
Is Siargao expensive?
Siargao Island is not an expensive destination for backpackers to visit.
Whilst at first restaurant prices may seem a little higher, there are plenty of cheap and affordable options, which do not compromise on quality or taste.
A lot of the restaurants in Siargao are foreign-owned or run which is why prices can be higher, but generally, there are restaurants for every budget.
I travelled on a super tight budget and managed to eat every day for less than $12, whilst still trying the amazing cuisine on offer.
Well, there you have it, a trip into foodie heaven and the very best restaurants Siargao Island has to offer.
